The area of jurisdiction extends from the Louisiana border on the east to Highway 124 (High Island) on the west.  It extends north to Interstate 10 and Highway 73.  Gulf waters out to 9 nm from 15 miles east and west of the Sabine jetties are also monitored.

The Pleasure Island office provides research assistance to other agencies and educational institutions including Lamar University and Auburn University.
